Sy Laterns Release Worries to the Sky

April 29th, 2010 . by admin

Many people who live in Asia use sky lanterns to celebrate their lives. They use them as a symbol of tranquility and healing. They believe that when a lantern is lit and raised to the sky that their troubles will float away and their minds will be clear. they also believe sky lanterns will bring spirits back onto the ground that will bid them good luck form that point on. They believe that the ash falling form the sky are actually remnants of their spirit guides that will encourage only good things to happen for them. This is a tradition that has gone on for hundreds of years.

The sky lanterns were primarily used in the military to send signals to help or to let the other members of the military know where they were, The use was very functional at that time. The soldiers could use them to see i the night. They could use them to warn the people of dangers. they could use them to signal distress or to just communicate to their fellow men. This was an important tool on the military a hundred or more years ago. The soldiers also felt that the lanterns could bring them good luck.

After they were no longer used for the military, many people used the sky lanterns for decorating for celebrations. they used the lanterns as lights. Then they would light them and offer them to the sky along with prayers and meditations. They families would offer them up together as thanksgiving and for a signal to receive more good luck. They would often believe that their ancestors could come back to them through the sky lanterns. The smoke to the sky would burn away as their ancestors became present to guide them and help them in times of trouble.

Now the sky lanerns are a part of the traditional lantern festivals. They light the large ornate lanterns to the sky in hopes that their troubles would somehow float away with them. They believe that once the smoke s released the troubles can no longer plague theuir lives. Only good luck could come to them. they believe that their lives can be made full and filled with joy over releaseing their worries to the sky. Many cultures hold on to that same belief. If you burn your worries your body and mind can be released of them. There is a healing power in that tradition.
