Michael Jackson was the number one influence on Pop Music of our time.  Thriller was the sixth album Jackson released, but I would say was his biggest release by far.  Thriller is the best all time selling album in the United States, selling over 110 million copies.   Thriller also changed the way we all looked at Music Videos.  Anyone that grew up in the 1980’s knows some form of the Thriller dance and has can sing at least a part of the song, if not all of it.  You are now also able to get a special edition issue of the album that includes audio interviews. 

On August 31, 1987 he released his seventh album Bad.  Michael produced nine of the eleven songs on the album, more than on any album before.  He also received co-producer for the entire album.  Jackson seem to be on top at the time of release of this album.  Out of the eleven songs on the album ten of them were released to single.  The album was nominated for six Grammys, of which two were won, that year. In 1987 we were not aware of an MP3 download, but now Jackson is one of all my friends essential MP3 Downloads.  I have over 10 Jackson songs on my MP3, and am getting ready to add some more.

After Micheal Jackson’s tragic death, the album This is It was released.  This is a two disc compilation album.  The album was released to go along with the film “This is It”.  The release of this album debuted at number one in the United States, and fourteen other countries, although a lot of critics said this release was an attempt to just monopolize on the death of Jackson.  The fans did not care, everyone just wanted to see and hear as much of Jackson as they could.  Michael Jackson has influenced the Pop Music culture by pushing the boundaries beyond what was the normal.  He will be always known as the King of Pop in many eyes and without his greatness, the music industry would not be where it is now.  Artists now have been able to learn and see how far Jackson was able to come and hit the pop music scene.
